Comparatives and superlatives

Més, menys, tan/tant, superlatives, millor, pitjor, major, and menor.

Choose comparison of degree, equality, or a superlative

Use més... que for “more ... than”, menys... que for “less ... than”, and tan... com for equal adjectives or adverbs. With nouns, use agreeing tant/tanta/tants/tantes... com.

Superlatives

Put the definite article before the comparison: el carrer més llarg, la proposta menys cara. Add a group with de: És el més jove de l’equip. An absolute high degree uses molt, ben, -íssim, though -íssim can sound emphatic: boníssim, claríssim.

My room is as large as yours.

No tinc tants dies de vacances com tu.

I don’t have as many holiday days as you.

Aquest és el restaurant més antic del barri.

This is the oldest restaurant in the neighbourhood.

La segona proposta em sembla millor.

The second proposal seems better to me.

El meu germà gran és dos anys més gran que jo.

My older brother is two years older than me.

Treballa tan de pressa que no para mai.

She works so quickly that she never stops.
